I first came across the art of Poi and Fire Dancing in my Senior year of High School when a classmate did a presentation on it. After giving us a demo she let us give it a shot with a simple poi set anyone can make with a pair of tights and two tennis balls. With that one presentation I was hooked. I picked up everything I could find on poi and fire dancing. After about a year of practicing and getting comfortable with a good set of moves I graduated to fire and the rest is history. Besides poi, I've added Fire Fans to my arsenal and I hope to one day become skilled at Fire Staff as well.
